wheel falling off

wheel falling off
ok...so on my ford probe
the rear wheel has fallen off when im driving, not just the wheel, the hub has snapped off and the brake drum n wheel have gone with it. my question is what could be causing this? its an 89, so could it be that its rusty, or what? any help would be appreciated.
P.S. dont flame me to much for posting a ford vehicle on h-t, its my step-dads car

Pour maintenance, the fact that it is a 17 yr old ford. Take a look to see what part failed. All parts will eventually fail.
Better yet....ask a ford forum for they probably know a lot more about than anyone here.

Yep, Wheel bearings, Bad grease or no grease. wear and tear. Adjustment leaving the bearings loose.
All can cause that kind of failure. At least you didn't (Flip Over to Read Directions)
