VX wheels Help
Hello friends!
I got a great deal on some VX's which I have Long been looking for.
They are in great shape but the asshat that had them before painted them Maroon and lost the Center caps.
I got them for 90 bux though and I just want to know how to strip the paint down to the factory look..... If possible.
Also I want to get some tires for them. I dont want them to low. I was thinking 180/70/13.
Any pix?
I got a EF civic hatch that is Charcol grey in color.
I need canter caps too!

I do. Don't get the stock size 175/70/13 they are skinny as hell. I should have listened to someone who told me to get wider tires, something like 180/65/13.
Strip them with paint stripper
Strip them with paint stripper
remember, with smaller tires, your speedometer isn't going to read accurately and it'll be like a final drive swap ish....
I think I had 185/75's on my vx's. The lightness of these wheels helps alot. I love them.

Yea that is what I am after. Right now I have 195/65/14 stocks on my civic. And when I put these vx's next to them they are much smaller in diameeter. I want to get them close but I dont want them to look like ballons. I Want a nice contact patch and kind out "square".
They are Super light!

Most '88-91 Civics came with 175/70-13 tires. So that's the outer diameter (22.65") you'll want to match with any other tire size.
The basic problem with 13" wheels is that there are no high-performance street tires available in those sizes. So looking for tires that are a little wider isn't going to do anything for you performance-wise anyway. If you want high-performance tires, get some 15" wheels, for which you can get 195/50-15 tires, including some very good ones (e.g. Bridgestone RE-11). There are also a couple of decent choices in 14" sizes noted below.
That's because 195/65-14 is much much MUCH too big for your car. That's almost 6 percent larger in diameter than stock - that's HUGE!
Wrong. 195/60-14 is also too big; 185/60-14 is about right, only slightly (0.4 percent) larger in diameter than stock.
If this is for street use, the Yokohama ES100 is the best summer tire available in 185/60-14, perfect if you don't have to use these tires in snow during the winter; otherwise, you'll need all-seasons, and the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position is available in 185/60-14.
And the total number of tires (ANY tires, even crappy ones) available at the Tire Rack in 185/65-13 is ZERO, so that's not even an option.

So will 'Aircraft Stripper' from AutoZone. The down side is that it may stain the aluminum a bit. Try it out on a couple out of the way spots and see how it works.
Use the brush-on version, not the spray version. It works much better. Brush it on with a cheap brush, let it sit for 15-20 min and hit it with a power washer. You may have to do this several times to get every last bit of paint.
Best of luck with your project.
Yea that is what I am scared of right here^!
I tried my Jasco stripper on the back side of the Rims and It gets Cloudy after the Paint comes off.
I cant believe an ASSHAT would Paint over these little Honda O.E.M. Gems.
