vx wheels on an ek?
I have a 98 hatch (cdn spec) and I run 13" alloys. Not to sure if 13" will fit some other 98 civics. Also, what will most likely be an issue is the high offset of VX rims, you either have to run spacers or start grinding your calipers. Both of these ideas I am not a fan of.
The other thing to consider is the choice of 13" tires is extremely limited. Please consider this before you get VX rims. If you are just doing this to save weight in an attempt to get more performance you will get much better performance by getting better tires on a bigger rim. The 13" tires I am currently running are 21lbs a piece. Just something for you to consider.
Cheers.

thanks, I also have a 98 hatch, I would have thought that the high offset would be benefical, also I am doing this for fuel saving reasons

It won't make any significant difference to fuel economy.

what offset are your 13s? If it dosen't make a difference, then why does almost every hybrid/ fuel sipper come stock with its own lightweight, small wheel, often limtied only to that model?

So that it can use tires in fuel-saving ultra-skinny sizes. And the wheel itself isn't going to save you lots of fuel; the fuel-economy models have literally hundreds of design features to save money (many of them designed for weight savings). If each feature saved you significant amounts of fuel all by itself, the car would produce more fuel that it took to fill it.
If you want significant fuel savings, get a VX, or an Insight, or a Fit. Otherwise, just keep your tires inflated properly, don't accelerate aggressively, and don't drive any more than you have to (which is where the big fuel savings lie).

Yes I have done all these things, and I have hit 39.62 mpg in mostly city driving on my stock d16y7 with si tranny( I have cx tranny also but it needs fixing). I want to push it even further. I am currently working on a vtec-e head swap and I thought vx wheels would also help. as they have helped others before, two of which I know, switching from steelies to the vxs on crx claim a slight gain in the 3-4 mpg ball park. My blades need need tires anyways, so I thought why not just try for vxs. I do appreciate your great responses though

They will fit the '96-00 CX, DX, LX, and HX. They will not fit the LX-ABS, EX-ABS, EX, or Si.
