Hey guys, so I WALLOPED a pothole and a sidewall bubble developed. I currently have the spare tire on.
The treads on the remaining 3 tires are 6/10. The tires are 4 years old with 33000kms or 20500 miles. They are Pirelli P Zero Nero, 225/40/18.
I'm going to buy 4 new tires off Tirerack of the same kind.
This is my question, is it worth saving the remaining 3 now unmounted tires for if another event like this happens? I'll read up on all the info and store them correctly, but is it unwise to store 4 year old used tires? Will they deteriorate after being unmounted and then potentially remounted?
Anyway thanks guys!

Tire manufacturers typically state that their products should only be used for 4 to 6 years from date of manufacturing, before needing replacement due to age. So, being that they're 4 years old already, I wouldn't bother saving more then say... 1 of them. To store them, put them in a black plastic bag, in a warm/dry place.
The big things affecting tire aging are exposure to sunlight and exposure to extreme temperatures. The general recommendation is that a tire should be replaced after 6 years in service. If a tire was stored at a manufacturer's warehouse for 4 years before going into service, it can still get a full 6 year life since the storage conditions in the warehouses are climate controlled and out of direct sunlight. Since you're already almost halfway through the treadlife of the tires and they have been in service for 4 years, you probably won't benefit from storing them unless you plan on using them up in the next 2-3 years. I agree that saving 1 tire would be a good idea to have as a spare, but if you're buying 4 new tires and you don't wear a set out in under 4 years, it probably wouldn't do you much good to save all of them. Keep one and sell the other 2 online or trade them in to a shop that will buy used tires.
