Default ssr reverse mesh help

i had some ssr rev mesh wheels but before they were shipped the company i bought them from had them dis-assembled and polished the lips.. so i got 4 barrels and 4 faces... first question where on the wheel (between what spokes, if important) does the air valve go? and how the hell do you put them together.. i swear the faces are slightly larger then the barrels and there is always a portion of the wheel i cant get to line up.. for those un- familiar the wheel has a lip on the barrel and a lip on the face at a 45deg that goes flush with the inside diameter of the lip but i cant get it on right... i've tried beating the **** out of the face, (with a rubber mallet, obviously) and i've tried gently tapping it around in a criss-cross pattern to try and slowly "seat" the face...but it dosnt seem to work either...if anyone has a clue please let me know

i know exactly what you are referring to. lucky we have a precision lathe in house for these types of situations. try to grind down the tabs slightly where the face meets the lip.

also, its key to have air tools while doing this so you can apply some pressure to slowly get that face to squeeze in there.

usually an 8mm allan socket for the hex headed bolt and a 12 mm socket on the nut.

^so does the air valve positioning matter at all? or is that just relative to preference?

show a pic of your rims

if the face of the rim doesnt have a cut out (notch) for the the stem then no, it does not matter. usually the ones that have the notch have the stem coming out the top of the lip(front side of rim).

if its the angled stem the stem will coming from and enter in between the spokes of the rim.

the face of the rim does not have a notch the barrel does

so you would file down the tabs a bit and just work the hardware until it seats?
