Default Remove Spray Paint from Wheels?

Well everyone heres the dillema. Evidently someone decided to get furious at me last night and vandalize my car. The damage is black spray paint on my 2 passenger side wheels (pretty thick). Comes off with the scratch of a fingernail however, I do not want to scratch my rims by scratching the spray paint off. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove spray paint from my wheels. They are stock Saturn rims (Since I do drive a Saturn...no flaming required either.) they are polished aluminum and almost look chrome. The guy at the wheel refinishing shop last week said they were powder coated if that helps any. Thanks in advance guys.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that about your car.

Anyway, have you tried paint thinner? That's the only thing I can think of...

No I havent tried paint thinner just yet because I do not want to damage the finish on the wheels. Also I am at work right now, when someone just now told me about it. So my resources are limited...I do work at a car dealership though.

There is a product called "Goof Off" that you can find at your local auto parts store (Kragen, Checkers, etc..) that I have found works great. You don't want to rub to hard, but just dab it on there with a cloth towel and it will break down the paint (especially if it is fresh) so you can wipe it off.

It might dull the surface a little, but just use some Mother's polish or other compound to bring back the shine. Good luck.
