Default question about throwing on rims

I have some stockers that I bought with 4 brand new tires. the tire sizes are 205/50zr16/87w. These are on 16 inch rims. Can I buy any 16 inch rim and slap it on these tires

can I fit it on
1. 16x7 +40
2. 16x7 +45
3. 16x7 +48
4. 16x8 +48

Sigh.

Find the manufacturer and model of the tire. Go to the manufacturer's website, and look up specifications on that model of tire. Check approved wheel sizes for that tire.

Offset only affects the fitment on the car. The tire only cares about width and diameter, so you only need to check if that exact tire is approved for 7" and 8" wide wheels.

Are you sure those tires will fit your car? If it's a Civic or Integra, the answer is probably not; if it's a Prelude or Accord, the answer is probably yes.
