Default putting a car on blocks

is there a proper way to do this or is it just a nike sort of thing? the car's tires are way too old and decrepid to drive to goodyear or wherever, so i was just going to take of the wheels and set is on something like wood blocks. sorry if i put this in the wrong forum. thanks guys

Use jackstands under the jacking points. If you don't have them, you can buy them at any auto parts store.

However, if the old tires still hold air, they might very well get you the few miles to the tire store, particularly if you drive slowly.
