Default powder coating prep

when powder coating a rim is it necessary to sandblast it? or would you just get away with just stripping the paint off with aircraft stripper and then powder coating?

i only ask because im re-doing a set of borbet type-a's for a friend in black with a polished lip.

also is it recommended to powder coat first then polish the lips or vice versa?

hope you can help.

Aircraft stripper will work as long as you're down to bare metal. You'll also need to make sure that the metal is clean enough for the powdercoating to adhere.
