Need tire help with EJ8!
I have a 96 EJ8 with a gsr swap and im wanting to get new wheels and tires but i have no idea what to get. I live in florida so i need a good summer/wet tire.
Ima go with 16x7 +40 rota slips or rota boost (havent made up my mind) but i was looking at tires and dnt know wheter to get 205/40(or)45/16 or 215/40(or)45/16. Im planning on doing a drop about 2'' (hopefully i wont have a rubbing problem). I need a good brand of tire thats not too noisy and rides great. Any suggestions????

For your '96 Honda EX with 16" wheels, you should be getting either 205/45-16 or 215/45-16. However, if you're going to lower the car 2", I would stick with 205/45-16 and not the 215/45-16.
I recommend one of these two tires:
Yokohama S.drive 205/45-16 $93/tire
Fuzion ZRi 205/45-16 $88/tire
There's a side-by-side comparison test on the Tire Rack website that includes both these tires.

(1.) If i do the drop wouldnt 205/40/16 create less of a rubbing issue on the inside fender guard? (I used on of the tire calculators on clubcivic...its just a 20mm difference, so im guessing its not that significant)
(2.)Why do some of the tires have "ZR" while others have "R"? What does it mean?

20 mm is indeed significant. And you shouldn't use the wrong size tire to fix rubbing; that's taking one problem, and then making a second problem on top of it instead of fixing the first problem. There are too many problems in using the wrong tire size, such as making the speedometer and odometer inaccurate, etc. Stick with 205/45-16.
