dunlop direzza
i just order some dunlop direzza tires, 205/50/15, because they were cheap and the reviews on them were fairly good. has anybody ever tried these tires on the dragstrip or at an autocrossing event? i was planning to use these mainly just as street tire, however it would be nice if it was worth taking to the drag/track as well.
also, most of the reviews i've read, the people only had a few thousand miles on them. anybody have any long term experiences with these tires? tia

which direzza's? there's 3 kind's of them i believe. the gsp or something? the dz01, amd the dragstrip ones. i have the dz01's. they're good, but they have a soft sidewall. so when you make a fast corner, the car will sort of feel like its sliding....but you're not obvioulsy. so yeah. my next choice for tires will probably be either the falken azenis rt-615's, or the bfgoodrich g-force sports.

I don't know what you're talking about. The only tire I know called the Direzza is the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 (not DZ01), and that's the only one that the Tire Rack carries.
The Direzza DZ101 is a good summer tire in the "budget performance" segment of the tire market. It's similar, in price and performance, to the Kumho Ecsta SPT, Yokohama AVS ES100, Avon Tech M500, etc., offering decent dry traction, very good wet traction, and very good treadlife at a reasonable price. Such tires are good choices for daily driving. Most drivers choosing tires to use in autocross events and/or at the dragstrip and/or racetrack tend to want a bit more performance than such tires offer, although you can still use them if you don't want to spend more money for better-performing and/or longer-lasting tires. They're also a good choice if you're a novice at such events, so you won't be using up all the capabilities of your tires anyway.

I can't think of two more different summer tires than those two. The Falken Azenis RT-615 is a supersticky tire offering great dry traction, perfect for autocross, dragstrip, and track; its downsides are so-so wet traction and short treadlife. The BFG g-Force Sport is a poor choice in the "budget performance" segment, with performance significantly worse than the other tires mentioned above, but at the same price.
