well think about the question, do you really think a 12" slick can fit on a 6" wheel??
If you look at the specs for whatever tire you are buying, it clearly says what the recommended wheel size is.

Ill say it again, go to the manafacturers website for your tire that you have questions about, and it will tell you the size range wheels to use for that specific tire. Each is different, dont use specs for Hoosier if you are running a MT tire, 2 different things.
BTW a 6" rim is a very tiny rim, OEM wheels are 6.5", I would sell what you got and get something better.
