Can 'regular' wheels be used for SUV's?
As the topic says, can 'regular' wheels be used for SUV's? OR is there any special needs for SUV wheels? Stock wheels on mu SUV is 15x6.5"...thinking of using some 17's or 18's (with correct offset)?
Also, the stock tires are 235 70 16 on 15x6.5" wheels. No one seems to have gone for a lower profile tire....say 245 65 16. Is there a limitation in going for a lower profile in SUV rims? I mean going from 70 to 65 and have a wider looking tire

Well, I can almost guarantee that the car wheels in question, won't match the truck's PCD.
What truck are the wheels for?

You'll need to worry about hub bore, and caliper clearance (depending on what wheels you're thinking of). But, for the most part, you should be able to use most 5x114.3 wheels out there.

he said it. I've seen a few pilots and ridgelines w/ volk wheels on them, just your standard 5x114 wheels.

Not quite that simple. TE37's are also produced for trucks, meaning they've got different bore diameters and clearances.

Ya, i know...i have some
But yes, bore diameter is a huge difference for wheels fitting them onto suv/trucks. But i have seen it done. My good friends lexus RX350 has Volk GT-N's on it. It's all possible.

thanks guys,
Any ideas on why no one would go for a lower prfile tire? I am not talking about 45 profile for SUV's? more like 65 or 55 on 16x6.5" rims?
