Default Welding something with ceramic coating

My manifold cracked and its coated

It needs to be re-welded whats the best way to go about this? Get it sand blasted off? I want to make sure there is no contamination so it does not crack again. I hate taking my cars apart for something so stupid.

A flap wheel might work if it's easy to get to

Anyone else have any suggestions? Would they company who coated it have a form of stripper they uses specifically for the coating they use? I really want to make sure they welds are not contaminated so it does not crack again

What I read around from online is sanding it off, that seems like what most people are doing

The trouble with sanding coatings is it tends to smear the coating into the material. I've had success in the past with sanding the majority of it off and then using a fine carbide bit in a die grinder to clean the area to be welded.

Media blast it off, only way to really remove it with out grinding it into the base material. Common sense really..
