Default welding chassis

I would like to do some small things to my car this winter but have a few questions. Can you safely weld with the engine installed? I will be cutting and welding inside the car but I worried that the current carried through the chassis from welding would damage the electronics? I plan to remove the hump under my drivers seat in order to lover the CG with lowering my seat. I also plan to install some gussets. I can pull the motor easily but thought since I am not welding near the engine bay if its not require I would leave it in. Who knows, I may just pull it out anyway and stitch weld the whole chassis. Thanks in advance, I'm new to welding and will have someone with more experience do the welding but just want to get it all figured out in advance.

Put the ground clamp close to the weld and that will cut down on problems. Doesn't hurt to disconnect the sensitive stuff like computers.

I just disconnect the Neg terminal for the battery when welding, never had any problems.

I think the only time you have to worry about computers is when you're welding with high frequency, but i wouldn't take any chances.. Ecus aren't cheap
