Where can I get this part to make some traction bars?? and what is it called??

It's called a "Heim joint". You should have less trouble finding some with the name.

out of curiosity....

why would you use those instead of just drilling the part of the bar that goes from the control arm to the traction bar crossmember so that it bolts on without that?

Heim Joints/Rod Ends allow movement of the joint. That is their purpose. You can buy them at a hardware store, from chassis shops, summit or jegs, mcmaster, etc etc. Search online.

Any decent speed shop will have a stack of them in stock. They are used in four-link suspensions by the domestic guys all the time.
