tig question...
What should I be looking for when buying a tig welder? I want to use it for all the typical reasons: stainless d/p's, exhaust, manifolds; aluminum end tanks, intercooler piping, etc. I was looking into the lincoln 185 readypack. Would that be enough?
Yeah, the Lincoln 185 and also the Miller Syncrowav 180 SD are btoh great machines, and will handle everything you are looking at tackling really well.

Thanks. Do you have a preferance as to features? Should I get a 220 volt squarewave like the lincoln 185 or should I get a 110 volt tig inverter like the invertec. I'm trying to stay around the $1500 ball park.
Me personally, would buy the Miller 180SD. Not only cuz I have one myself, but I have heard better things about them. Two manin reasons that stick in my head are one, the foot pedal. I heard Lincolns foot pedals SUCK. Also, customer service. With Lincoln, good luck getting ahold of anyone, and if you do, they probably wont be able to help you with anything, or know how to help you anyway. Miller...they got some customer service! They are always super friendly and on the ball with everything. Just some things to think about...GOOD LUCK!

The Miller machines are squarewave machines also. DOn't let Lincoln fool you into thinking you're getting something special when they say it's squarewave.
My advice is: A used Miller is better than a new Lincoln.
