no its just the jap spec 13B motor that is the cosmo. the only diff really is the ports are bigger just breaths better & harder 2 find.

also if u are wondering we have gone 8.9s with the current setup & with the new setup we are finishing now we hope to go 7's this would be a world record for a vwbug chassy.
the current car isnt a tube chassy just a rear tubed car. only for the slicks.

we are going to start a tube chassy once we hit 7's
need to prove it will work first. motors dont belong in the rear

I've seen pics of that beast before...Bad A$$ to say the least. What gearbox do u have in that thing?

Some updates on my turd,

Took it to the drag strip and was plauged with problems, my first run was decent but i did not get timed. Second run the car shut down half track due to bad ignition switch. Third run my fine pick and pull ford coil pack decided it was no longer up to the task. Luckily i was able to get a spare and on my last run my ring lands decided they were out to due to me trying to milk to small an injector....So all in all a pretty bad weekend but i did learn a ton.

So now it has STI rods and pistons, 1000 cc injectors, and meth injection. And im goin to the dyno this time and having it profesionaly tuned. The pile better make 300 or im going to drive it into a wall. If it does ok on the dyno im goin to a test and tune on friday and going for it

Ill be sure to update the dyno #'s and track times.

u should have no problem making 300whp. we make 400-275 with stock everything just aftermarket comp, boost controller.
only problem with the stock turbo is the boost falls off up top.

we are running a mendiola crash box, that we custom modify
we spent almost 3 years just getting this car to go down the track straight & nto crash alot of people said it wouldent work & never see 8s so we did that now we are going lower.
this motor combo & trans is way heavyer than stock & is also pushed back further about 4 inches so it likes the sky. our best 60ft so far is 2.6 & we are in the 2sec constantly now so we hope 2 cut some 1.9s with this next setup. & with the new power 7s

but it takes time once u get some power & u will see the sky al long as the trans holds up.

Not to many options for that to work without making some real exotic stuff or using factory porsche stuff witch in that case, i would just leave it in the porsche. Vanagon stuff is rare and too weak for any real power, subie stuff would need to be front engine witch i really wouldn't consider. All in all just not worth the work. Im honestly pretty burn't on this project and might sell it soon. I have a 62 mini that im dying to put a turbo d16 into.

On the plus side i took it to the dyno today and had great success. Ended up at 272 hp and 285 tq on 14 psi of boost on 91 octane and meth injection. It made well over 300 on 18psi but i want it to last a while so didn't leave it there. The car is a freakin handfull. Still spins the 285's just rollin on second gear and requires quite a bit of countersteering to keep going straight. Can't wait to get it to the track and break my poor tranny!!

I love the bug, motor looks so clean.

I also love the Megasquirt. Im using it on my neon with 1600cc injectors.

Finally made it to the dyno. Made 272hp/285tq on 14 psi on 91 octane and meth injection . Did a 20 psi pull by mistake and let off before 5000 rpm and the hp was over 300, but after driving it on 14 psi i did not see the need for more power on street tires. Maybe once i can afford a stronger gearbox i will do a c16 tune and shoot for high 300's.
I'm so broke right now i have to wait to go to the drag strip but im hoping for an 11 sec pass on 91 and street tires.

Thanks again for the comments

Props to the oval and the tucked window for air flow

I've seen a similar set up, yet more performance minded, in a Ghia - not sure the year, but it was a while ago - in a VW mag ... anyway, I'd rather your oval any day!! Congrats on the 272 HP pulls - that's plenty HP for a 1900 lbs car

I don't know what is more performance minded than a gutted car with one aluminum seat, a cage, vette brakes and wheels, and turbo motor that puts out 6 times the original horsepower but thanks i guess

And thesamba.com and shoptalkforums.com are pretty decent although the amount of bs horsepower claims on those sites is what keeps me coming back to this site.

why c16 u wont need that for 400whp. high test will get u thier all day, exp with meth inj.
no point in wasting the extra $ on fuel. we have tuned as high as 485whp with high test. & no meth injection.

nice #s

aslo we just tuned our bug wen & we made 760whp 30psi & smoked the tires off on the dyno i mean smoked should of at least been over 800whp see what happens at the pan americans
