Default RWD conversion... steering?

well its about summer, my civic is out of the garage and i got some room for a project... I have a 88 accord that needs an engine and I just blew the rear end in my f-150 (302 with AOD) now I also have a 305 and TH-400 and a 500ci with TH-425 laying around doing nothing.

Anyways I think the 302 would be the best bet as the dizzy is in the front so it would be easier to put it further back. plus 302's like to rev higher and are a little lighter then sbc's My buddy wants to give me a hatchback shell to put the engine and stuff in but I think it would be better in a full interior accord (if it would fit under the hood). I do have a welder (Mig and Tig) anyways my main concern before I fully go about starting this project is what to do about the steering rack, obviously it will need to be moved up so it can allow the tranny to go under. Can you guys give me some ideas or maybe some pictures of any other honda rwd conversions on what they may have done.

I belive I have most of the parts I need to do this swap but I am just worried about the steering so help me out guys!

Thanks
Kyle

not really man... the idea I had gave my dad was:
1. S2000 drivetrain into a civic hatch 92
2. Lt1 into a civic hatch 92

steering... DANG!!!, that would be complicated, everything would have to be custom made most likely... or just get a suspension off of a corvette or something and reinforce the subframe so that you can weld the a-arms onto it... OR!!! try and fit a camaro front crossmember to the honda to make it easier...

I guess it would just have to be taken care of as I did the install... regular stuff that comes with customizing...

IM doing a 440 into a Hb not that hard you just have to use some American Pos Suspension.... not that i want to use it but way ez'r than custom Fabing everything...
the stock steering rack is in the way.

You could always make it mid-engined using a transaxle transmission (put the engine where the back seats are), and use a factory steering system.

Hey buddy, Im in Pawtucket, RI

I used to live in Burriville a few years ago. if yo need any help with this, I am opening my shop in Pawtucket, RI on July 1st.

I should definitely be able to assist you with getting all the parts you need and I can put you in touch with my welder in Cumberland who is always up for a challenge and this project would be pretty simple for him compared to what he does daily. Simple but time consuming. Also we have access to a machine shop with CNC machines and everything so if you need anything we can make it.

Our shop will open at 560 Mineral Spring Avenue.
