Default Plenum design for the audi

I'm working on designing a plenum for my 5 cylinder audi. I have a lot of room for it, just trying to figure out the best design.

What do you guys think of this one:

Or I also like Tony1's design on Rado's old cylinder head but I can't seem to locate it.

Justin

I think the one in that pic is pretty bad ***! Here's a pic of Rado's first one. Unfortunately, I have no data to compare it to, not really sure how well it works.

Damn tony I just found that picture after a half hour of looking and came to post it and you already had.

Anyway, I really like both designs. I think the 1st on would be easy to build. Just split a 4" 90 degree bend down the middle and use it for your plenum sides. And then use sheet aluminum for the rest. Are you up to do it tony? I'll send the work your way if your not too busy.

Regards,
Justin

Sadly that isn't my car. I dont need a all out drag car. I need something I can drive to work and home.

here is a very primative drawing, because i am a new laptop without photoshop and i had to do it in paint. It is actually pretty easy. 1 bend cut in half with some straight and then cut to shape sheet metal.

I'm curious what you are using for a rad? I have a '90 Coupe that I'm starting work on in the next few weeks and have been thinking about how I can move or modify the rad so I can change the intake.
Also, what are you using for engine management?

Thanks.

Did you take into account firing order, runner length, and volume of the manifold, or did you create this according to space. If so wondering details and design decisions.

Pretty much I am just doing what will fit under the hood on my car. Plenum volume doesn't worry me too much. What does worry me is a nice transition from the throttle to the velocity stacks. I am trying to evenly distribute air the best I can to all of the cylinders. The plenum will be symetrical, but curved to clear the hood.

Here is something I made up in CAD as a rough idea of what I'm doing:

Regards.

I will be using a 75mm mustang throttle body with the manifold, so the plenum will start out at a 3" hole and gradually transition to the 5 velocity stacks.
