does anyone here do plastic welding. the hot air kind.

looking at getting a small unit that does this type, and wondering if it works well or not.

 

did you ever get any information? i was thinking of repairing some plastic body panels from a motorcycle

 

I've heard some plastic welders use some kind of heated wand?? Any1 know anything about that?

 

I've done it a few time at an old job I had. Nothing big. We had a Weird Soldiering gun with various tips tha you went through a process. First fine to dig deep, about 1/2 way through, then some spatula styles varying in width to weld the 2 together.

 

How did it work out? I saw some soldering iron types as well.

 

It works. Smokey. The good ones have a small fan to blow the smoke away from the work area. I might borrow it to do my bumper. To move the exhuast cutout on my 90 hatch to the passenger side.
