Thought I would share my latest project. 65 bug with a k20 and gt40. This is not my car I'm just doin all the turbo fab work. Its a k20z1 with a gt40 running kpro. Completely stock long block for now and I think he's shootin for around 400. The car went 11.2 previously still vw powered but should be stupid fast now. Especially with the 4" exhaust LOL

















Also did a subaru swap on a buddies bug. It's a ej22 that I made carb manifolds for and a vw style exhaust to give it the look of a hot rod bug motor.

 

F-ing beauuuuuutifulll bro... Can't wait to see a video of that monstrosity.

damn i was looking to put a K into my 67....didnt even know where to start on fab issues

 

any forseable problems standing the motor straight up like that? doesnt that put the oil pickup about half way up the oil pan? the fab looks great but why not just lean it over like its supposed to be?

as much fab work that went into the car, how much more would it be to just refab the pickup to what is now the bottom of the pan?

 

liking the ej22 in the bug... the k is a little questionable tho...

 

does the k still use the vw trans?

 

I have to admit the oil pickup was not on my radar as I have never even had the pan off a K but I will check it out for sure now. Thanks for the heads up and yea its using a bug box with an aftermarket Albins gear stack and quaife.

As for not diggin the K I even admit it looks a little silly but you can't deny the function of a turbo K. Most drag bugs have an aluminum box that come down off the back of the wing and cover the motor. The owner is eventually going to follow suit and cover the contraption up.

I'm a vw guy myself, got a 64 bus and 67 dune buggy and i love em and know a bit about em. Got to ask a few questions. Why keep the vw tranny which IMO sucks and why do a build for 400 hp with a GT40?

I wanna see a honda engine and tranny. If a built block is in the future to really take advantage of that turbo the tranny to match is gonna be a fortune like 5K+ and its still probably gonna break.
