Default materials for making downpipe

what is the best or most typical grade and thickness of stainless that should be used for making a 3" downpipe. Also, where is the cheapest place to get said piping and flanges as well.

I would use either 16 or 18 gauge mandrel bent piping. As for the material try your local muffler shops , if you cannot find anything then try summitracing.com they carry lots of exhaust materials.

Since you live in Alton, (try st.louis since its a bigger city, better chance of finding shops)

yeah, I thought about trying summit or jegs, but I figured that would be more expensive because I wasn't buying directly from the source.

But I would still try getting them locally, you can make a dp out of scraps that muffler shops have lying around for cheap.

16g 304 stainless would be just fine for a downpipe you can try us for materials http://www.burnsstainless.com
