Having never done it before... if i have access you a pipe bender, and welding ****, how hard is it to really make your own, and for it to perform good, is it just important that all the runners are equal length and the bends are smooth?

You can use Schedule 10 SS instead of the material listed on that site or if doing a NA application try mandrel bends, SS or mild steel. Look in the FAQ<U></U> for a list of suppliers for the tubing and the flanges.
