Default intake design

as you my remember (probly not ) i built an intake for a scion tc about 4 months ago and it was working great helped bring this pos heavy car in to low 15's
(15.2 to be exact i guess that isnt bad when i was running 15.6 stock)

well i decided to play around with the design of the sensor mount and moved it up to 3" while the rest of the intake is 2.5"

this cause's the car to shut off when i rev it to red line then let it go back to idel
(this doesnt happen all the time just like one or two times out of 20-25 revs that high )

im not 100% sure why this happend but if any one would like to explain to me the design flaw in this that would be awsome just so i can learn some more
(would this be causing the car to run rich or lean??? seems rich from what i have seen since the car is eating gas now like if it was m&m's)

i am going to go back to 2.5 inch but it sucks becouse i just powder coated the intake lol so not i have to grind down all the powder coat and pay to caot it again once its back to 2.5 inch

thanks guys

Assumming your factory maf tube is 2.5 inches:

If you increase the tube any size air more air will go past it then it can detect. Meaning at a given point it cannot read that amount of air and goes lean. Since you are not forced induction its not as dangerous, but still not good by any means. Most people get their ecu reflashed with the intent of changing the maps to utilize the 3 inch pipe.

i though the same thing but its only the sensor portion that is 3" but im guess that could be why still even though the air volume is still the same the sensor is moved out from the air flow

any other responses??
