This is the mount to my honda spree scooter that i am currently building up right now. Im pretty sure there are some awesome fabricators in here that could give me some advice on how to properly and safely stretch this motor mount. i want to extend it approx 5 inches straight back. I was thinking of cutting off the 2 channels and just welding in a plate straight across (top and bottom).But looking at it now it would throw off the angle of how the motor sits currently.What about cutting the channels in the middle and welding some 1/4 late in between so it would keep the angle and possibly box the entire thing for extra strength ?

 

i would just cut and extend them the run a gusset on the out sides and maybe box the insides. its kinda hard to tell how force is being applied to those. the motor cant be that heavy is it?
