Nice! I am working on a single turbo mustang also. One question...why do you need a flex on the crossover pipe? I am going to make a support for the turbo but every set up I see has a flex on the crossover pipe.

Is this not running a swaybar?

we did a single turbo on a fox body about a month ago, we did not put a flex pipe on the cross over and its doing just fine. we just used 2.5" 16g mild steel.

with those cast manifolds i dont see them expanding with heat so the cross over pipe shouldnt really need a flex pipe but its good insurance.

we made 16g headers for our customer and still didnt use a flex pipe on the crossover, the turbo is mounted to the midplate.

He doesn't have solid motor mounts, and the T6 flange is welded to the frame. this is going to be a street car so I see the flex pipes as insurance.
He will be running a sway bar.

That is what I am doing right now. I am using his BBK shorty headers but I will support the turbo. So the flex pipe is used in this case for heat expansion? I was trying to figure out why it was used when everything is bolted to the block and it will move with it.

More pics! That turbo is huge compared to the sc61 we are using! LOL

more pic's to come

i used the flex sections because the turbo is going to sit still while the motor and headers move back and fourth im not worried about heat expansion

yeah if the turbo is bolted stationary, the cross over pipe shouldnt need a fles section, even if the headers are tubing as well...well so far i can make this statement, haha. we are running a midplate so there are no motor mounts and im assuming heat expansion will be limited so not too worried.

looks good fastcody

Only if the turbo is bolted stationary to the block. In this case the flange is welded to the frame so you need one to flex when the motor torques.

yeah you will need a flex pipe, or at least it would be a good idea.

with a midplate it dosnt matter at all. the only worry there is thermal expansion which we havnt had a problem with. sorry to be so confusing
