Back Purging, How do you do it?

Back Purging, How do you do it?
Just wondering what your method for back purging is?
Say for building a manifold? Do you weld up each pipe separate, and then attach it to the flanges?
When back purging do you cap both ends? or do you let it flow out one end? What do you use for caps? How do you attach the hose? Do you have a shut off valve near the end of your hose?
Post up some pics of your rigs i guess..
