back purging
I ran a T after my reg on the tank. Then a 10 foot hose with a needle valve at the end. you only need to open the needle valve a tiny bit and let the gas fill the inside of the pipe you are welding. don't crank it up too high, because it will steal all the gas from the torch.
I use a "quick cap" rubber cap with a hole poked in it and the hose shoved in one end, and stuff some steel wool in the other end to let the gas flow out of the pipe, not out of the area you are welding. i'll go snap a pic of it later

T off the tank to 2 regulators, and an on off valve on the purge side so i can turn it on and off at will. (little blue handle)

and the cap i made out of some dumptube material, the other side i cap with tinfoil.

I don't have any pictures. I use two tanks.
And for my caps I cut a bunch of canuck pucks in different sizes. Drilled two holes in each puck. One large and one small. Purge tank has a regulator as usual. Then a line attached to a tube which is inserted into the canuck puck.
Pretty simple. Plus the puck can take quite a bit of heat.

so let me ask you guys something....How do you grind down the bevel for your SS pipes. they all look so perfect....do you just have a jig set up on a grinder? or is there a tool that does this for you?
