thank you very very much Engloid.
i asked this because i want to start building manifolds.
i basicly know how to weld with a stick welder. but i want the tig for the apperance and the respect
i currently dont have a welder but i want to buy a new small stick/acr welder and convert it to a tig.
what small arc/stick welder should i buy that will fit my needs to convert to a tig?

i never knew this was possible so i have a few question. on a regular tig machine you have the foot control which regulates the amperage am i correct?? so if you do this conversion thing there is no way to do this besides switching it on the machine? also to start your arc i assume you just get the torch close to the the positive metal since once agian theres no way to regulate....
also is this an effective way of tig welding or it it just a cheap alternative to "get by"? i was actually looking into getting a syncrowave 180 but since there is an old miller stick machine in our garage this thread made me think. i would definatly like some more in depth info about this.
