I'm going to make one soon for my stock VX motor, which currently has none. The exhaust I made is aluminum to save weight, and it terminates after a 90 bend at the gas tank area. Been reading up on design in "Scientific design of intake and exhaust systems" again and Ill probably make a couple prototypes in the next week or so.

Probably will be testing before and after sound level also, and possibly doing a frequency analysis with some instrumentation I have access to in a research lab.

Will probably test:
1. Exhaust box type
2. Absorpive type (typical straight through/resonator design)
3. Backpressure type, which would be really complicated to describe, but it has cones and holes and slots inside a tube basically


But I just wanted to see what others have done, and how it helped the sound.

i made one before out of stainless... I took two pieces of sheetmetal and put one end of each through the slip roll Making two "J" shapes.. Made some baffles and put it all together.. I sort of copied off of a flowmaster design.. It was a fun project, but personally I prefer the tone of my turbo muffler over it..

Bump . Im looking at making one for my project eg. Stock size Stainless with 2.5" internals doing a Superturbo muffler design. In threw a 2.5" baffle then full 180 in a manderal 2.5" pipe to another baffle then 180 into another baffle and out the bottom to the bumper. Stock look and same size as a factory but quiet. Ill give it a try next summer when i get my house

Check out the last pics in my build thread in my sig. I had to amke an aluminum muffler for my aluminum exhaust. I didn't do any pre weld cleaning on the muffler so welds are crap but it is the perfect sound I was looking for.

I have thought about making aluminum mufflers but the market just was not there at all.

I have made aluminum exhasuts and mufflers.

Since no one is making a 3" aluminum muffler I had to buy the parts and make it myself.
