Default Aluminum Hemisphere?

I'm building up a intake manifold for my Datsun 280Z. I want to use part of a hemisphere for the end of the intake manifold. The only ones I've found are from Sharpe Products. They don't list a thickness of Aluminum allow on the site. Has anyone used these? Does the metal weld ok to 6061? Is it around 0.125" wall thickness?

http://www.sharpeproducts.com/

Here's the manifold I want to use it on:

totally off topic, but that is the most baller manifold i've ever seen on a non-crossflow head.

Its a shame its not a cross-flow head, those things flow really well.

i'm looking at their book now. they show that their aluminum ***** are .132" so i would assume that the hemispheres are the same, but i would call just to make sure. here are some of their part #'s if it helps.

3" - H3000-AL
3.5" - H350-AL
4" - H400-AL

their customer support is very good. just to let you know, if you haven't dealt them before.

I'd look into a local metal/body shop (a real one). They would take annealed metal, pound it to shape, then get it treated to whatever spec you need.

Where you not originally going to use a 2JZGE?

You can find the hemisperes here also. http://www.wagnercompanies.com/Product_Index.aspx
They weld to T6 perfectly. I have made several items using these and they work great.

Thanks Guys! I just orded some hemispheres from Sharpe.

Now where do I get the 3" X 0.125 wall bend for the leading edge of the plenum?

SLS, I'm still doing the 2JZ in this car. Just building a custom intake manifold for the original motor in the mean time.

Use two .065" bends layered and spot weld them together?

Just joking for the most part, but it'd be a last resort option I suppose.

On a side note... doesn't everyone else hate how dark red towels always fade and become purple?

Sorry Justin, no useful info here

Goodies got here. I ordered 2 of everything they make, in both steel and aluminum. Sometimes just having stuff like this around is a lifesaver.

Here's some of the aluminum hemispheres. I'd say they have a finish similar to a used high-school shot put. Some need cleanup, some have flashing, a few aren't even perfectly spherical in spots. Like a very small dip. Pretty minor and nit-picky. Nothing a bit of cleanup won't cure. And they're pretty cheap, so not any real room to complain. I think a quick scuff with your favorite scuffing material and they'd look sweet.

Very happy with them. Will work great. Can't wait to weld some up.

They buff out pretty nice, especially if you use a harder wheel and compound first to knock down the texture. We use those on our "drag" manifolds here at work.

The hemispheres from sharpe do not have holes in them.
