which engine is best
im kindof new to the car world n everything but im thinkin about buyin a 94 civic lx and dropping a new engine in it. i got about 2grand to spend on the complete swap and just wondering what are my best options for around that price.
GSR if you can find it that low, LS would probably be my second choice, and then B16. The b16 will cost more than the LS swap, but will definitely be worth it if you get into the honda-scene and learn to piece together your own motor.
thanks man, yea i was thinkin bout a gsr engine, cheapest i found was like 1,850 on ebay motors avg price was around 33-3,900. i might jus save up for an extra month or 2 and go with the gsr or type r engine. it will probably be better in the long run.
It all depends on how your going to use the car! First off is the 94 lx a 5spd or Auto? Will it be just a daily driven car? Are you looking for something with good torque, or horsepower, or a little bit of both, etc etc....
You can find a GSR for that cheap, but you're still going to need a TRANNY (big money), axles, shiftlinkage, clutch, flywheel, and motor mounts/ rear bracket. That's not including the ECU (computer) that you're going to need to get to run the new motor. Too bad you don't live in So CAL, I could hook you up FAT, but maybe someone from your area can do the same.
thanks, i just went to go see the car today and its a piece or ****, not really worth the money i did however come across a 2000 civic ex coupe w/ manual transmission. its pretty decent looking, what would my options be engine wise with something like that. would the motor mounts fit with a b-series or could i go with like a k20a engine.

no you would need motor mounts regardless... you need to decide at u wanna put in there first, but if i was you i would throw a greddy kit on the single cam and call it day being ur a newbie...jus my opinon...and no im not a sohc turbo guy!
y go for a 94 civic lx, isn't that a four door sedan why not get a hatchback since you going to swap engine into its. Would be best if you get a hatchback then swap, but that's just my opinion yours might be different. For me, if its a sedan I rather let its stay factory....
