Transmission Problems
Hey Honda-Tech users,
I usually search this forum for a lot for useful information, but never really needed to post for help before. I am having a problem with my 93 civic si manual transmission. I searched the forums and found a couple things that could be wrong with the car. Anything from pressure plate to master and slave cylinder.
I just wanted some opinions on my specific situation. The other day i went to sit in my car and turn it on. I turn on my car and it starts perfectly (note that i keep my e-brake up and put my car into neutral when i park and not in first gear). I then try to get into reverse but i cant get it in to gear out of neutral and i hear a loud grinding noise. I try to put it into first and no amount of force i can apply will allow it to go in. This is the same with any other gear.
I then turned the car off and put it into reverse gear and it goes into gear. When i went to start the car it did not turn on, and my clutch pedal has fallen all the way to the ground and will not come up. So my car is basically left for dead right now.
I am pretty much up in arms about what it is. I ordered a new clutch kit with flywheel from exedy because the cars clutch was grinding in fifth and third gear, and overall had gone to **** in my opinion. So i knew i had decided to replace that. That is set to be delivered in a week. I read online though it might of just been my slave and master cylinder and now want to know if i have to replace them also. I might as well do it all together and would order those parts for cheap online also if i need it, but if i don't i want to do that because i am in a financial bind.
Any of your opinions are appreciated.

If it goes into gear when the car is off it's the Clutch. If your peddles on the ground than its either the slave and master cylinder. As for the grinding noises in 3rd and 5th those are your syncros. I say get a new tranny when u take it out and do the clutch and look at the slave and master cylinder and see if there leaking or anyting.
start off by changing your slave cylinder as these tend to go out before the master (also much easier and cheaper to replace). since you're going to be bleeding the clutch line when you do this, go ahead and completely flush the system. inspect your line for any leaks.
