Default Transmission problem

Hello, I have a 95 Civic EX with LS-Turbo and LS Hydro Transmission.

I am having an odd transmission problem I have never encountered.
While driving randomly when pulling down on shifter to go into 2-4-R, it will just not pull down into those gears. It is almost like something is blocking it from going down. I have no grinding and it shifts perfectly otherwise. It just started doing this out of no where.

Sometimes in 5th gear pulling down to downshift it seems to feel like something is blocking it and will not come out of 5 to easy.

I have tried double clutching triple and much more, like I said i'm getting no grinds, and the shifter sometimes doesn't even move down far enough to pull down and release clutch to make it grind or go in gear.

Transmission Oil level is where it should be I topped it off as I was a little low.

EXAMPLE: "If you put car in 5th then try to go right to Reverse it will not allow you to do this"
That is what I seems like for 2-4 gears going from 1-3-5 when it decides to not want to go in.

Any ideas on what to look at or where to look for this problem, ive checked linkage it seems normal. The pin is in its spot under the boot..

Please let me know if anyone has heard or seen this problem, thank you
-Justin

Why are you going from 5th to reverse? Basicly when ever you try to reach the gears that are towards you it won't go in right? You might want to take a look at your shift linkage.

EDIT: "I was using an example of how its acting when going into 2 and 4 from 1-3-5, its does nearly the same thing 5th to reverse does, it blocks it as a safety feature to not blow up your transmission."

And i said i checked it, everything seems normal with it. I may try a whole different shift linkage in case its inside where the 2 linkages connect under the shift ****.

Main thing that comes to mind is a bent shift fork, or in the off chance the clutch is not fully disengaging but that shouldn't affect the 2-4-R gears. try bleeding the CMC/CSC real quick.

I have a full clutch pedal fluid is good, full engagement on the CSC. And i don't think it could be the shift fork a 2-4-R are on all different shift forks, and when i put it in neutral it goes right into neutral, plus if it was bent wouldn't it always stay like that and not just happened 1-2 times every 5 miles or so?

The car has been fine for months now. Went fishing last night was fine, on way home from fishing at 2 am it just randomly started doing this.

Edit: I guess i shouldn't say every 5 miles or so. It's random when it does it. But its only been driven to work and back since last night

I'm going to move this into the transmission section as the transmission rebuilders and gurus tend to monitor that section more than here.

Lightly bent shift fork does sort of fit, but would stick with one shift range 1-2, or 3-4 typically.

Hopefully you will get a better response in this section. Cheers and good luck.

I have seen where 2-4-R were impossible to select, could only shift into 1-3-5....

Shift shaft was bent coming out of the transmission, 90-91 Teg tranny. Swapped the shaft and all was fine.

Seem the engine swap was "dropped" at some point.

Ok so if this is happening in all gears, even when the car is off than you will need to inspect your transmission.

Thank you for moving post to correct section,

Anyways, still doing it this morning, sometimes it sticks in neutral with no left or right play on the shift *** at all. I was told to disassemble this linkage where the 2 meet together and make sure no washers or springs are lose and maybe getting wedged.

Tony: Only seems to happen in 2-4-R

If linkage was bent wouldn't it do it all the time. I appreciate all the opinions, and replys.

Transmission was never dropped during swap and has been fine for a year or more after it's rebuild of new syncros/bearings due to the guy would owned it before me cracked the housing on it so i had it machined and welded and never a problem since..

Going to take apart this linkage tonight and let you guys know what i find, if i find nothing im gonna swap the linkage to another linkage and see if it helps any.

Thanks,
Justin

No it would go into reverse just every once in awhile it wouldn't go into 2-4 but if I stopped I would have no rev. But if I jingle shift around for a bit it would finally grab and shift again no problems .

Anyways update on the problem I got it fixed, was very simple found a rebuilt b16 with lsd for $450.. Works beautiful now. Thanks for everyones opinions.

There was a lot of syncro metal inside oil btw.
