Default Transmission Help!!!

So a couple weeks ago I posted my problem but here it is again. I was driving and then bam the car wouldnt accelerate and I hear a LOUD whining sound. I could shift into all the slots but the car would not go into gear. I pulled my tranny off and checked the clutch. The middle part was all stipped explaining the whining. So i replaced the clutch and TB and everything else. I even put in an LS tranny that my friend bought a while ago just in case the tranny went kaboom. I just finished the job and I go to start the car WITHOUT the axles in. The whining is gone. BUT I can still shift into all the gear slots without even engaging on the clutch. It does not go in gear though. No grinds or anything. Is this normal if the axles arent in yet b/c there is no load? or could this tranny be bad too? The car is a 98gsr...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

^^^ so if the axles are not in you can shift into all the gear slots without stepping on the clutch? i would assume the clutch has to be engaged to shift into the slots but ill try this out. any ideas if this could be a clutch slave or master cylinder malfunction?
