Default Help w/ Drivetrain...

First off, my car is a 98 integra gsr w/ a b16a1 motor and tranny. It was how i bought it. Anyways the other day i was driving and shifted from 2nd gear to 3rd gear then boom loud grinding sound and my car cant drive anymore. The engine is running fine but there is a loud whining sound from the tranny and it wont drive. I can shift the shifter into all the knot while the car is on without stepping on the clutch like the car was off and it would go into all the slots but not actually into gear. However, when i engage the clutch a loud whining sound comes back on. I thought it was the tranny so I pulled it this weekend and replaced it with a working ls tranny. Checked the throwout bearing and it was fine but i did not check the clutch/flywheel. Slapped everything back on and started her up w/o the axles in. Problem was still there. Could it be my clutch/flywheel? Could my clutch disc be totally bad or my flywheel cracked? The car is stock. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance...

Clutch... Unless you smoked your tranny. Which I doubt.

I was thinking the pin came out in the shift rod or its broken some how or your main shaft may have broke but i doubt that.

probly one of the springs jumped out the clutch. check it out when mines jumped out driving regularly, it sounded wierd and you hear it kinda like a grinding/humming or some kinda wierd noise you know.

It could be this. was your car able to shift and go into gear? or it would just shift into the slots w/o actually going into gear?

^^ I can't quite make out what this is telling me.

But I think it states you can move the shifter in and out of the gear pattern while the engine is running w/ out depressing the clutch pedal.

I am surprised you went through the hassle of replacing the transmission and not taking the time to look at your clutch. I would be almost completely certain the clutch disc or the fingers on the pressure plate are what failed you here.

^^^ you are exactly right. Yes and I still kick myself in the *** for not checking the clutch...o well ill just have to pull it off again...what a hassle...i did glance at the pp and the fingers are fine. i think it is certainly the clutch disc. well i have a new oem one coming in. as for the throwout bearing, it spins freely so i think it is OK. well any other ideas or suggestions for me to look at?
