Default transmission from d engine interchangeable?

Hi!
I have a civic 97 D16Y7. My transmission is broken and i want to install a new used one. I heard that the transmissions of the civic 96-00 are interchangeable? Is this right?
The car I want to take it from has a D16Y3 engine. Is it possible to take this transmission? Will it fit?
the numbers of both transmissions are:
21200-P1M-B01
21200-P4A-A00

Would be nice to get some advice from you

I am guessing you mean D16Y8 and yes you can. There is a gear ratio difference in the trans from what you have now. But it will bolt in just the same...Let me grab the gear ratios so you can see the difference.

No, I actually mean D16Y3...is from an mb1(Civic, MB1, 5-Türer, 1.6, D16Y3 / D16Z9, 113 / 126 PS, 83 / 92 kW, 95-97). The guy who sells it told me that it wont fit...but I heard that the transmissions from d-engines are interchangeable?!? But you say that those to have the same sice? Even when they have different numbers on?

Thanx for your replay

Oh you had to get all UK spec on me! LOL! MB1 Chassis D16Y3. Let me do a little research unless someone with solid info can chime in before I do. From what I can recall in my short Eurospec Honda memory...The studs for the trans top mount may be different but, you can either add or remove that outer top stud to match what you have and the hole for it should be there already..its just a matter of installing the stud. Both will be Hydraulic transmissions and will mount to the D-series engine the same. There is a slight chance that they will be the same since our cutoff for the EG civic and EK is 92-95 and 96-00. Your right in between..Is the guy local to you?? If so, go take a look at the top stud mounting positions and casing to confirm. Even pics will help if he is not local.

Oh, sorry...i´m from Norway and new to the civic-buissnes

This guy with the d16y3 is really annoying...so I saw two transmissions, from a d15z6 and z8. Those should work, shouldn´t they???

Thanx

Yes they should...and if the studs are different on the top mount..its a matter of either adding one or removing one depending on your set-up. IICR the Older S20 trans will have both studs and the S40 newer style will have one stud so its just a matter of making one or the other work. I will take some pics tomorrow so you can see the difference.
