Which trans is better?
Is b.16 trans better than a GSR, or vice versa? Is hydro trans better than cable?
Also is it possible to convert a cable trans into a hydro trans?
Because I bought ah LS motor and the guy I bought it from said it's a Ls cable trans contverted to a hydro trans? Confused?

gsr is better than a b16 tranny. gearing is way better, almost close to JDM ITR. hydro trannies are easier to come by and have less miles than cable. you can convert a hydro to a cable by getting a hydro-to-cable kit from lets say hasport.
Which tranny is better depends on your application. For general purpose though, the B16 is the better of the two.
JDM '96 ITR Tranny (i.e USDM ITR) = B16 1/2/3/4/5/FD
JDM '98 ITR Tranny = B16 1/2/3, GSR 4/5, 4.785 FD

Thanks I'm building a LSVtec and I don't want to use a LS cable trans, Im think of picking up a b16 trans because I herd the gearing ratio is better?(corrtect me if I'm worong)
I'm looking for somthing that will give me more on torque with a faster accelration..

b16 has shorter gears than the gear. Like everyone else knows GSR trannies have good gearing all around. Its good for N/A builds and Turbo builds. B16 trannies have pretty short gears so it would be ideal for your LS-V build if you dont mind driving in Vtec on the freeway

They are both excellent choices. Depending on what you want, the GSR or B16 may be a better fit to your goals. But they both work incredibly well in various circumstances.
