Default Tools required?

.
I'd like to know what special, or other tools are required to work on these manual transmissions.

Thanks

Snap ring pliers, feeler gauges, vernier caliper or micrometer, bore gauge. Those and basic tools will allow you to do most things. Shimming the mainshaft requires some OEM specialty tools and a dial indicator/stand.

Most of those I know about. These on the other hand I know nothing about. Probably expensive too? "OEM specialty tools and a dial indicator/stand"

I also know what a dial indicator is, but stand?
It might be cheaper, since it's a one time job, just to take it somewhere.

The dial indicator requires a base/stand so it doesn't move while you check the movement of the differential, this is also necessary if you want to check diff spider gears backlash (or whatever they are called).. Also, a slide hammer with three arm puller and bearing separator will come in handy when removing old differential bearings and the counter-shaft needle bearing in the case. I literally just finished replacing all the bearings in my b16 transmission today. I also used a deep fryer filled with trans fluid to heat the diff bearings so they went on easier.

There are a few good video's on youtube of people completely disassembling and reassembly these trans, it will give you a solid idea of what to expect.

The OEM tools for the mainshaft shimming run about $200.

For a one-time job, I think it's better to take it somewhere. I don't think I'll like the y80 that came with my gsr swap. There's a lot of 70-80 mph speed limits here. The s1 trans I took out was doing 75@3500rpms. It has 186k miles and I think it'd be smart to refresh it before using it with an engine thats got 40-50 more hp than the A1 it was made for.

....probably the easiest and cheapest way to get the lower rpms that I want.
