Hey guys, new to the forums, but I've been a member on the TSXClub forums for years. I was hoping someone could help me diagnose a problem.

So, I own a '05 MT TSX (obviously) and recently I've been hearing a weird "vibrating" noise while accelerating in third gear and above. I say it sounds like something is vibrating, yet there are no abnormal vibrations that I can feel. No clunking noises either and no noises while idling or revving.

It's not very loud and I can only really hear it with the music off. It kind of sounds like an idling diesel engine on a truck. When I roll my windows down and drive close to a concrete island or row of cars, I can hear it more distinctly.

I took it into the shop to have the check it out, and they said it sounds like it's coming from the tranny. In order to more accurately diagnose it however, they said they needed to drop the subframe. And for those of you who've had to replace your clutch, you know this is not a cheap endeavor.

I just wanted to see if anyone else has had experience with this sort of noise under these circumstances.

 

how many mile are on this particular machine of yours?

 

About 140,000 miles. I recently replaced the clutch about 10,000 miles ago.
