well i just pick up a D16Y8 motor/tranny. So when i remove the tranny from the motor i notice that there was a piece of the case broking off from the bottom. Now is there any way i can fix this or can i use the tranny case of a HX tranny??

 

As long as there isn't a crack running up the case you should be fine to use it. If you bottom out on it though, it will crack open a lot more easily.

If you want to use a different bellhousing, you'll have to shim the diff and mainshaft.

 

the Y8 and the Y7 dont have the same tranny case

 

Y8 and Y5 do. B5 might as well.

i seen quite a few with the chiped piece off in the same spot on a few trannys i put in. they were fine.
