Powdercoating transmission case
Is there any negatives to doing this? I know a few wheel companies do not recommend powder coating their wheels because of how they are made and if you heat them at 400 degrees for 30 minutes it will actually make them more prone to breaking.
Has anyone had any good or bad experiences doing this?

Automotive finished meaning high temp engine paint or just having a paint and body guy paint it?
I have looked around and some guys would preheat the case for an hour or so at 400 degree to help bake the oils out before the powdercoat the actual case. I didn't see any results of how it looked afterwards though.

Just want it black, nothing crazy. The last transmission I had, the guy before me painted it flat black, but it chipped off fairly easy.
I think sandblasting it and painting it would be better... or giving it a good scuff with sandpaper... Powder coating I don't even get how they'd do it without coating the inside? I Guess do it bolted together and plug all the holes? Seems kinda crazy. At the point you're going to send it out I'd just have them blast and paint it.
