I pulled my swap out about 6 months ago and the tranny was in perfect working condition no grinds, noises, or nothing smooth as butter. I didnt mess with the tranny at all it just sat covered in my garage. Now i just put my swap back in a few days ago and now the tranny will not go in reverse. I have tried everything i can think of but nothing has worked. It goes into 1-5 just like butter though. Just no reverse!! I have tried different shift linkage and everything so now im out of ideas other than taking the tranny to someone! Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
Did you try disconnecting the shift linkage(with the car off) and shifting at the trans(shift shaft) to see if you get reverse? Give it a shot if you haven't already.
Does the shift shaft look like it may have been bent when putting the swap in? When pulling the shift shaft in and out check it out to make sure it is straight and has not been bent in any way.

IT DOESNT SEEM TO BE BENT AT ALL IT JUST WONT GO INTO REVERSE EVEN JUST TRYING TO MOVE THE SHIFT SHAFT WITHOUT THE LINKAGE HOOKED UP.
If you can't shift in to reverse at the transmission with the linkage disconnected, it is an internal problem. Sometimes the 5th sleeve engagement teeth can get damaged and stick in the hub preventing reverse engagement. You will need to open the transmission to inspect everything to be sure of the problem. After the repair I would suggest bench shifting through all of the gears while turning the mainshaft by hand to verify proper operation.

Take a look at the maincase and see if there is a dent on the end in the protruding area next to the M/S top bearing. It is possible that the case may have a ding where the 5/R fork shaft moves up in the guide section of the case. If the transmission was set on the ground hard enough, it could have flattened the bottom end of the case distorting the guide hole and preventing the fork from moving into the reverse position.
