Hard to shift from neutral to third
Recently I rebuilt for the first time my B18 civic transmission with new synchros, sliders, the 3rd and 4th hub and new bearings. In the process changed my old ACT Extreme PP and 6 puck unsprung disk for a new CC stage 5 with 4 puck disk. The pedal is so soft compared to the old one that I thought someting was wrong. Today I took the car for a spin to check that everything is ok, everything felt nice except that if I was in neutral and tried to shift into 3rd it wont go in without me forcing it. Trans fluid is new Honda MTF, check for leaks in the clutch line everything looks perfect, tomorrow will bleed the line. Dont know what else to check. Up shifting the every gear goes like butter.
With that clutch the pedal should be moderately stiff but not sure hard to depress. Try rev matching to see if it will let you down shift or go from neutral to a gear while moving. Also check for weird clutch system leaks like the seal on the master.
Does the shift growl/kick back at you when it finally sits in gear?
No sense bleeding the clutch, just hold the clutch pedal down, place it in 5th gear, and hold it there with the engine running for several minutes. If the engine stalls, diagnose the hydraulic failure of the clutch (bleed it, etc). A clutch bleed issue is not going to cause ONLY one shift to malfunction.
What was the condition of the clutch hub, slider, gears, and bearings at rebuild? Pictures?
