Default hard to shift

Hi, my buddy just installed a b18b swap in his 93 civic.. everything runs fine but... whe found it hard to install the shift linkage it almost felt like it was too long. Then we take it out to drive and the shifter is really stiff and you have to muscle it to get into gear. The clutch is good and no grinds or noises in the tranny. Now would it be possible that the linkage is seized??

maybe bushings in the linkage...unless they were already installed also check the double-ended bolt that hold the shifter in place? just suggestions
