i am new to the forum and this is my 1st post. i have a 95 integra ls. i just had a guy put in a passenger cv axle. i noticed that he didn't hit the nut on the hub to put a notch the grove. now there is a bunch of grease around the axle next to the tranny. I have been assuming that the axle was coming out and leaking grease while i was driving. is this what is happening? can i just make sure it in there and hit the notch then regrease the tranny and be done with it?

 

also i definately know that the boot is not torn

 

if it is grease, then the boot is leaking; if it is oil, that is from the transmission. just look at the gap between the cv cup and the transmission to tell if it is in all the way. should be only about 1/8". if it is leaking from there, you need a new seal.
