Default Broken Diff?

I have a 98 GSR. I was racing it just today, and after a few runs, on my way back to the pit, i KNOW i broke something. The diff on the car has been bad, i guess it finally gave. HAHA. My question is can i still keep my trans and just replace the diff (hopefully LSD) OR are my trans useless now? Really need advice here. Thanks.

The transmission's components are all still fine if you caught the problem in time and no extensive damage has been started. If you didn't, then you'll have to sort through to see what all is good or not.

How do you know the 'diff has been bad'?
