A BIG thumbs down to ACT...
I'm trying to finish up my build with an upcoming deadline, so I turned to ACT for my clutch/flywheel solution. Long story short, the pilot bushing in the flywheel I received is .01" smaller than it should be, and the alignment tool nor my trans input shaft will fit inside of it. I only learned this around 11pm last night after wrestling with the trans for half an hour, trying to mate it to the block. 0 for 1
Called ACT this morning. They confirmed my bushing is the wrong size, as well as an incorrectly placed label on the clutch disc instructing which way it should be installed. 0 for 2
The tech rep from ACT said the only course of action they could offer is for me to send the flywheel back to them (SC to CA, on MY dime), they'll process it, and send another one out to me. 8-10 days is what I was quoted for the whole ordeal. Unacceptable coming from a reputable company on a setup that I paid nearly $700 for. 0 for 3
So, two things I'd like to learn from this post:
1. I can't confirm whether or not my engine (F23) uses a pilot bushing in the OE flywheel, but searches are leaning towards no. Can I just punch that **** out and run without it?
2. Who da F%K is working QC at ACT.
Don't tell me '**** happens' when you're dealing with cars. **** happens when you buy junk from eBay or mix parts that have no business working together. **** shouldn't happen when I pay $700 for the best in the business. /rant

No.
If it's a bushing and not a bearing take it to a machine shop and have them bore the inside out to the correct diameter. It should cost you less than shipping it back to ACT and you'll have it a lot quicker. It's not an ideal situation but sometimes you just have to make the best of a bad situation.
No, sh*t DOES happen. Sometimes things don't go your way. I get your rant but coming on here and complaining is the last thing you should've done. ACT isn't gonna help you here. I bought a 1200 dollar v-band header. The megaphone is cracked all the way around. I have to ship the header back to this company on my dime. Then he'll ship it back to me. It's the best they can do. It is what it is. I accepted it. On the flipside, a lot of k-series guys have had nothing but problems with ACT puck clutches.

Which is what I expected from this company. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time.
The bushing is slightly recessed in the hole which created a means of centering the alignment tool while being in the splines of the clutch disk kept it squared up. A second set of hands held it in place as the pressure plate was installed and torqued down.
That's exactly what I did. I just hate that I had to modify a precision part like this from such a company as ACT.
The first thing I did was put everything away, cool down over night and call ACT customer service first thing in the morning. The fact that they want more of my money and two weeks of my time to fix THEIR problem is what set me off. It's not like they had bad materials or faulty welds. They shipped their products with poor QC, then were as lazy as could be about correcting their mistake.
