B16 Trans Reverse Problem HELP!!!

Default B16 Trans Reverse Problem HELP!!!

So i just done rebuild a b16 transmission..after i was finished i try bench shifting 1-5 all the gears went in fine but when i shift to revese it wouldnt even go into gear. i try replacing the shift assembly and still doesnt make a difference. anything else i could do?

I would check a few things. Make sure that the stopper plate as shown below has been lined up properly.


Also be sure to check that the correct synchro was used for reverse and 5th gear. Many will get these two backwards.

When test shifting spin the mainshaft..that helps. Reverse is usually the toughest to engage.

heys james iam positive that i have lined up the stopper plate correctly and have the correct synchro but ill double check on that agian this week when im free.

Also make sure to check the maincase where the forks go. The very end one is for the 5-R fork and if the case is hit it will deform the fork slot and not allow it to go into reverse. I have seen this happen before.
